Hi, my name is Dennis.  You may call me by my nickname, DiscoDad. I wanted to find a platform where I can share my love of the game of basketball and so BallersGear was born!

I have been playing the game of basketball since I can remember ever holding a small basketball at least 40 years ago.  I have been involved in running a local basketball club for over 21 years in Canberra, Australia.  Along the way I have learned or been involved in different aspect of the sport and have learned a lot from each of the role I’ve undertaken. The roles included being a:

• Basketball player
• A referee
• Coach
• Trainer
• Competition Coordinator
• Court Manager
• Event organiser
• Team/Club Sponsor
• Promotions Manager
• Club President
• Host to visiting national teams (from the Philippines)
• To name a few…

I just love every aspect of the game of basketball!

I’ve always tried to find ways to make the game of basketball more fun for me and for other fellow ballers. I often try to learn what are fun things that happen at the elite level of basketball competition that I can borrow and apply at the community club level. 

So in this blog, we will share such tips and hacks on:

This blog will also showcase the legends of the game and follow the rising stars of basketball. In particular, players coming from my motherland, the Philippines and from the Land Down Under, Australia I now call home.

I’ve just turned 49 and a big part of my journey now is to spend more time with my two growing little girls and divert my time from the local scene to going online and build this blog.  Ballers Gear aims to  to reach an even wider audience in providing joy, entertainment and inspire people to be a better version of themselves. 

This blog site will be the platform to nurture my legacy that I want to leave behind for my wife, children, family, friends and community.
